About Project

The development entails the construction of a 62.5 metre long, 6.6 metres wide vehicular bridge. The proposal is to construct a vehicular bridge across the Mpambanyoni River with a pedestrian walkway. The bridge structure will be a concrete structure supported 4.5 metres above the water surface by two (2) abutements and four (4) piers. Two (2) piers will be located within the Mpambanyoni River and remaining two (2) will be placed on the edge of the watercourse. The construction of the bridge will take place within 32 metres of a water course.

The Result

The proposed bridge is primarily aimed at improving access to the nearby school and local road infrastructure. At present, many of the scholars are forced to be absent from school during periods of heavy rains. The bridge will also improve services by providing improved access to health and police services and important transportation networks for all members of the local community.

Community Facilities Served

This bridge would provide access to vehicular traffic for the purposes of travelling to and from home for the community living on the northern side of the river. This Bridge will also assist learners to access Schools and other amenities which are on the South side of the Bridge site.
The two schools that serve the area are Sukamuva High School and Mceleni CP Schools.
This bridge will serve in excess of 50 households.
